Wellness Exams

At Kehoe Animal Clinic we believe every pet should have an annual wellness exam. Our annual exam is thorough and establishes a physical baseline for your pet. This includes evaluating necessary vaccines specific to your pet’s lifestyle, dental health, laboratory testing and any screening your pet may need. We understand that every pet is an individual and strive to evaluate each pet’s specific needs with compassionate care, and a fear-free environment.

Laboratory

Laboratory testing is a useful tool to aid in accurate diagnosis for both routine testing and medical abnormalities. We offer some in-house testing, providing the benefit of timely results. We also employ the use of a state of the art, animal-specific reference laboratory which provides a complete range of diagnostic testing and quality assured, accurate results for your pet. Most routine test results are available within 24 hours.

General Medicine

A healthy pet is a happy pet, and here at Kehoe Animal Clinic we believe that preventative medicine, proper nutrition, and catching disease in its early stages will lead to the best outcomes. At all stages of life, there are many ways to ensure you’re doing your best to prevent disease. From puppyhood to seniors, we tailor our treatment recommendations based on your pet’s needs.

Surgery

Dr. Kehoe has extensive surgical experience including volunteering for years at high-volume spay and neuter clinics in the Caribbean where she organized programs that not only addressed the immediate needs of the areas, but also taught best practices to local veterinarians so they could continue promoting spay and neuter in their communities.

At Kehoe Animal Clinic we offer a wide range of soft-tissue surgeries including spay and neuter, exploratory surgeries, bladder surgery, and mass removals in addition to other specialized procedures and oral surgery.

Dentistry

Dental disease is the most common clinical condition in both cats and dogs, even though it is completely preventable. Thorough oral exams are an important part of your pet’s complete health assessment. Oral health assessments and treatments are done under general anesthesia, including dental radiography, which is the only way to evaluate dental health below the gumline. Dr. Kehoe has numerous hours of continued education in dental disease and oral surgery.

Digital Radiology

Digital radiology is an excellent way to assess patients quickly for a variety of diseases, including fractures, some bone diseases, impactions, pneumonia, heart disease, bladder and kidney stones. It’s an extra tool that we use to help diagnose diseases. Digital radiology has the advantage of low radiation exposure and quick results. We also have the availability to send the images to a board certified radiologist to assist with interpretation.

Ultrasound

We offer in-house ultrasound by appointment only. We use a traveling veterinarian that is experienced in ultrasonography and assists us with managing complicated cases. We also refer to local specialist for internal medicine cases that need to be managed in a specialty hospital.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese treatment that involves the stimulation of points, typically achieved through the insertion of specialized needles into the body. At Kehoe Animal Clinic we offer acupuncture treatment, including electroacupuncture.

Laser Therapy

Kehoe Animal Clinic is excited to offer our clients Companion Laser Therapy. Laser therapy provides a non-invasive, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment which is used to treat a variety of conditions and can be performed in conjunction with existing treatment protocols. Relief and/or improvement is often noticed within hours depending on the condition and your pet’s response. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma or injury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, your companion can benefit from this innovative approach to treating pain.

Applications for laser therapy include:

Treatment of arthritis, degenerative joint disease, or hip dysplasia
General pain management (sprains, strains, and stiffness)
Post-surgery pain (spays, neuters, declaws, and other surgeries)
Skin problems (hot spots, lick granulomas, infections)
Dental procedures
Fractures and wounds (bites, abrasions, and lesions)
Ear infections

How does it work?

Laser therapy stimulates the body to heal from within. Non-thermal photons of light are administered to the body for about 3 to 8 minutes and absorbed by the injured cells. The cells are then stimulated and respond with a higher rate of metabolism. This results in relief from pain, increased circulation, reduced inflammation, and an acceleration of the healing process.

What can my pet expect during a laser therapy treatment session?

Simply put, it provides relief. As the laser is administered, your pet will relax and enjoy the treatment. The almost immediate relief of pain will allow your pet to be comfortable and any anxiety that your pet initially experiences will dissipate.
